This is a delightful adventure that blends fantasy and reality in a way I haven't quite seen done before. Two girls who are best friends in childhood create a comic book superhero together called "Princess X." When the two are teenagers, one of them disappears and is presumed dead. Then, their comic book character starts appearing on street graffiti and websites that no one can trace. This is a murder mystery with a lot of heart and originality, complete with illustrations of the in-universe comic book, and I blasted through it in a day and a half. Highly recommended.

This was a wonderful story about a girl (Louisa) who takes a job as a caregiver for a young man (Will) who has been in an accident and is now paralyzed from the neck down. Will is extremely hard to be around since he was once a very successful businessman and very athletic. Louisa is a quirky young girl whose family depends on her financially to help them. The relationship between Will and Louise starts out rough and over time grows into a very sweet one. This is a book that you won't want to put down. I saw the movie first but of course the book is much better ! I want to read more by this author.

It's difficult to talk about this book without giving absolutely everything away. So I'll have to keep this vague. You need to know the following: 1) It is a horror story. 2) It's extremely gruesome and brutal. 3) It's mostly told through the point of view of a very young, very intelligent, very unique girl. 4) The ending is perfect, and makes sense for everything preceding it, but it is not a "happy" ending. I recommend this highly to anyone interested in a great story with memorable characters. But I hope you have a strong stomach.

This is a novelization of the 2016 movie, which I absolutely loved and wanted to see again right away. Since I couldn't make that worth with my time and budget, I figured reading the book would be a nice substitute. And it is! I like seeing more detail about Erin and Abby's childhood, their friendship and just how much it meant when they started to drift apart. It makes it more poignant when they find each other again and reconcile. Overall, I do think the movie works better--comic timing and improv being what they are, some of my favorite moments onscreen just weren't present in the screenplay this was adapted from--but it's a fun read nonetheless.
